Roy joined the firm in 2015 and became Managing Director in May 2024 following three years as a Director. He has responsibility for the overall management of the firm whilst also acting as the firm’s Compliance Officer for Finance & Administration.
Roy focuses on advising company clients with sales and acquisitions, often of significant portfolios. Given the firm’s location in Loughborough, an area which introduced an Article 4 Direction regarding HMOs much earlier than most authorities, Roy is seen as a local expert for investor clients looking to acquire or sell HMOs. Roy takes pride in his thorough but efficient service, often acting on transactions with incredibly tight deadlines.
In addition to residential work, Roy also advises on the sale and acquisition of land for development, often involving overage agreements, conditional contracts, options and promotion agreements.
Roy spearheaded the rebranding of Bird Wilford & Sale into BWS Law, a move aimed at modernising the firm while maintaining its strong and historic reputation. This is just one step of bigger growth strategy which focuses on organic growth with the right people at the heart of it.
Outside of work, Roy enjoys sailing and foreign travel, sometimes at the same time! there is always another trip in the making. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree, a Master of Laws and is a member of the Institute of Legal Finance & Management.
